11th May 2026 copy

Are your students looking for a high quality virtual summer school? Here’s how they can connect with big name universities this summer with Unifrog’s Virtual Summer School.
What is Unifrog’s Virtual Summer School?
Virtual Summer School is a free, three-day long programme for Unifrog students around the world who are currently in Year 12 / Grade 11.
Students choose one of five subject streams, each led by a different top university. They’ll have the opportunity to learn from leaders in the field and connect with university representatives.
During the summer school, students will attend three subject-specific sessions which build towards an independent project, as well as up to five university study skills sessions.
Here are the streams that students can choose between:
When is it?
Virtual Summer School will run Monday 13–15 July 2026.
Students will need to attend sessions on all three days, lasting about two hours each day. There will also be independent work each day.
How do students join?
Students join Virtual Summer School on Unifrog’s Events tool (this is a link to the student side).
Students need to pick their preferred subject stream. The sessions will run alongside each other so students can't choose multiple subject streams.
The deadline for joining is 10am (BST) on Monday 6 July.
Subject-specific and university skills sessions
Subject specific sessions
Students will attend one live, subject-specific session on each of the three days. These sessions will share a common theme and culminate in students completing a project.
University skills sessions
Each of the five universities will run a 30-minute skills session; each runs at a different time so students can attend all five. The skills sessions are:
- How to think and study at university-level
- Building a strong academic argument
- Academic skills: reading, note-taking, and research
- How to explore a subject beyond the classroom
- Navigating the admissions process and personal statements
What’s the format of the week?
- Each day will begin at 10:00 (BST)
The first day will begin with a welcome session. The second and third days will begin with skills sessions.
- After each morning session, students will have a subject-specific session
These sessions will be linked thematically across the week and they’ll be related to the project task. Students must attend all three subject sessions.
- On the first and second days, there will be skills sessions in the afternoon
On the final day, all students will attend a closing session to debrief and finish the week off.

What will students get out of Virtual Summer School?
Subject expertise
First and foremost, they’ll get the chance to learn more about their preferred subject through a genuinely academic, university-style experience.
Connections with university representatives
They’ll also be able to make connections with representatives from the universities themselves to support them in the future, by choosing to share their details when they first sign up.
Supercharged applications
Students will be able to use their experience and their project work in their future applications, whether that’s for university, an apprenticeship, or something else!
In their applications, students will be able to write about what they learnt, what they were inspired to learn next, or how it confirmed their choice of next steps. Many university systems (e.g. UCAS and the Common App) have dedicated parts of the application processes where students can detail activities they have completed that they are proud of.
Students will receive a certificate of completion at the end of all three subject sessions.
FAQs
Can students join more than one subject?
No, due to the scheduling of the live sessions, students will only be able to complete one subject strand. If students sign up to more than one subject, they’ll be automatically assigned to the first subject they chose.
Can students change their mind about which subject they want to join?
Yes. Before the Monday 6 July deadline, if students change their mind and want to select a different subject, they can cancel their sign-up on the event page as in the screenshot below; they must do this before the deadline to avoid being defaulted to their first choice.
How much does the experience cost?
The summer school is free of charge to students at Unifrog schools.
Can any student join, or is this for specific groups (e.g. high-attaining or widening participation)?
Any student in Year 12 / Grade 11 is welcome to join. The programme is designed to support anyone who wants to explore a subject more deeply.
What’s the time commitment?
Students will attend live sessions each day for around two hours, alongside some independent project work.
Do students have to attend all three days?
Yes, the programme is a three-day experience, with sessions building towards a final project, so they must attend all sessions. They will only receive their certificate if they attend all three days.
Is there a deadline for students to sign up?
Yes. Students must sign up by Monday 6 July at 10am (BST). Any sign-ups after the deadline will not be registered and those students will not receive a confirmation email.
The deadline exists to help our team make sure all students receive their timetables and joining links in advance of virtual summer school.
If students can’t attend live sessions, can they still take part?
No. Students must attend live sessions in order to take part.
Can students take part using mobile devices?
It's possible for students to watch the webinars on a mobile device, but they'll need access to a computer to complete their project.
In the webinars, will students need to appear on camera or talk on the mic?
No. In the sessions, students won't need to appear on camera or use the mic.
Will there be any interaction between students and universities?
Each session will have a range of interactive elements and Q&As which will allow students to interact with the university. They can also choose to share their details with each university during the event sign-up process to be contacted at a later point.
Do students get a completion certificate?
Students will receive a certificate after completion of all three subject sessions. They will not receive a certificate if they do not complete all subject sessions.
